Trish Backer Miceli ‘83, is vice president, human resources for MedStar Health, a nonprofit, community-based health system. Appointed to the Board in 2011, she is the alumna representative to the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Development Committee. With her husband, Augie, she co-chaired the 2006-07 Annual Fund. The couple has a daughter at Friends.
Karen Bleich, a radiologist with Johns Hopkins Hospital, serves on the Finance Committee. Appointed to the Board in 2010, she is the mother of a Friends student.
Tom Brooks
Tom Brooks is a partner at Anthem Energy, which invests in and manages assets that produce, transport or store energy products. He serves on the Executive and Finance Committees. Appointed to the Board in 2009, he presently has two children enrolled at Friends.
Sue Carnell
Sue Carnell, a retired Baltimore City Community College administrator, is a Vice Chair of the Board. The mother of four alumni--all of whom attended Friends for 12-plus years--and the grandmother of three current students, she is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting. Appointed to the Board in 2006, she is Clerk of the Diversity Committee and serves on the Committee on Trustees, the Joint Nominating Subcommittee, and the Executive and Building Committees.
Alice Cherbonnier
Alice Cherbonnier, a writer, editor and graphic artist, is also proprietor of Octahedron Minerals. After previously serving two seven-year terms as a Friends Trustee, she was appointed to a third term in 2005. A former clerk of Stony Run Friends Meeting, Ms. Cherbonnier serves on the Quaker Mission Oversight, Development, and Diversity Committees, and is the liaison between the School and the Meeting. She is the mother of a Friends alumnus.
Suzy Filbert
Suzy Filbert, a retired speech pathologist for Baltimore County Public Schools, is member of the Quaker Mission Oversight Committee, the Capital Campaign Steering Committee, and the Committee of Trustees. Appointed to the Board in 2005, she is the mother of a Friends student, and is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Norman Forbush '78
Norman Forbush '78, a marketing consultant, is Treasurer of the Board. The clerk of Finance Committee, he is a member of the Executive, Development, and Building Committees, and of the Audit Subcommittee. Appointed to the Board in 2007, he is the parent of a Friends student and is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Tim Hearn '78
Timothy R. Hearn ’78, is C.E.O. of Colliers International-Baltimore, a commercial real estate firm. First appointed to the Board as its student representative during his senior year at Friends, Hearn served two more Board stints, from 1988-93 and from 1994-1999, before his recent appointment in 2011. He presently serves on the Building, Development, and Capital Campaign Steering Committees. Hearn was vice chair of two Friends’ capital campaigns in the 1990s—Friends for the Future and the Campaign to Connect Friends. He is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Thora Johnson '88
Thora Johnson '88 is a partner with the law firm of Venable, LLP, where she represents charitable and educational organizations in corporate and tax matters. Appointed to the Board in 2008, she is the clerk of the Committee on Trustees. Ms. Johnson is the mother of two Friends School students and is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Andre Jones
Andre Jones, a middle school geography teacher at Gilman School, serves on the Diversity Committee. He is the father of a Friends alumnus and is a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Barbara Katz
Barbara Katz is a longtime Friends School supporter. Active in numerous community nonprofit organizations, she has served on the boards of the Sinai Hospital Auxiliary and Associated Jewish Charities, is a past board president of the Jewish Museum of Maryland, and is a chair emeriti of the Maryland Historical Society. She joined the Friends School Board in 2011 and is a member of the Capital Campaign Steering and Development Committees.
Sam Keamy-Minor '12
Sam Keamy-Minor ’12 is the student representative to the Board, where he serves on the Diversity Committee. He is co-head of the School’s Mock Trial team, which earned a final-four slot in the State Championships; and is a member of the Upper School Student Senate, the Boys’ Cross-Country team, the Chamber Choir and the Concert Chorale.
Elizabeth McKennon
Elizabeth McKennon, a principal with the law firm of McKennon Shelton & Henn LLP, where she specializes in public finance, serves on the Finance, and Quaker Mission Oversight Committees, and the Audit Subcommittee. Appointed to the Board in 2006, she is the mother of two alumnae.
Gerry Mullan
Geraldine M. Mullan is an attorney with Coventry Resources Corporation. Appointed to the Board in 2005, she is the mother of a current Friends student and an alumnus and a member of the Development Committee.
Dorothy H. Powe
Dorothy H. Powe, Director, Investor Relations with McCormick & Co., Inc., is a Vice Chair of the Board and serves on the Quaker Mission Oversight and Executive Committees. She also serves as the Board liaison to Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. Appointed to the Board in 2005, she is the mother two Friends alumnae.
Anne Powell
Anne Powell is a longtime Friends School volunteer and the mother of two alumni. Appointed to the Board in 2006, she is a member of the Finance Committee, Development Committee, Capital Campaign Steering Committee, and the Committee on Trustees.
Mia Redrick is an author and is founder and C.E.O. of Finding Definitions, LLC, a mother-support company that provides education, outreach and networking opportunities for private clients and self-care groups. Appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2011, Redrick serves on the Diversity Committee and is a former Parents Association representative to the School’s Diversity Council. She is the mother of two Friends students.
Edwin Remsberg '83
Edwin Remsberg '83 is a professional photographer whose clients include University of Maryland, Getty Images and Johns Hopkins University Press. He also raises sheep on a 20-acre farm in Harford County, MD. Appointed to the Board in 2007, Mr. Remsberg is a member of the Building Committee and the Quaker Mission Oversight Committee. He is the father of three Friends School children and is a member of Little Falls Friends Meeting.
Steve Rives
Stephen Rives is chair of the science department at St. Paul's School for Girls in Brooklandville, MD. Appointed to the Board in 2008, he clerks the Quaker Mission Oversight Committee and serves on the Diversity Committee and the Committee on Trustees. He is a member of Gunpowder Friends Meeting.
Carole Schreck
Carole Schreck, a property manager at Real Estate Dimensions, serves on the Finance Committee, Development Committee, and the Investment Management Subcommittee. Appointed to the Board in 2006, she is the mother of two Friends School students and a member of Stony Run Friends Meeting.
Daryl Sidle
Daryl Sidle is a principal with Baxter, Baker, Sidle, Conn & Jones, P.A., a Baltimore law firm. A member of the Joint Nominating Subcommittee, Development Committee, and the Committee on Trustees, he is the father of an alumnus and a current Friends student.
Mark Stromdahl
Mark Stromdahl, principal of the Bel Air, MD-architectural firm Edmeades & Stromdahl, Ltd., is Chair of the Board. He is Clerk of the Executive Committee and serves Ex Officio on all committees. Appointed to the Board in 2005, he is the father of a Friends alumnus and is a member of Little Falls Friends Meeting.
John Watt teaches Middle School mathematics at Friends and is a co-clerk of the School's Diversity Council. Appointed to the Board in 2010, he serves on the Diversity Committee and is the father of two Friends alumni.
Mark Weinman
Mark Weinman is president of The Morris Weinman Company, a commercial real estate development and management firm. Appointed to the Board in 2009, he is Clerk of the Building Committee and serves on the Finance Committee and the Capital Campaign Steering Committee. He is the father of three Friends students.
Bill White
Bill White, vice president of client development for Corbyn Investment Management, is Secretary of the Board of Trustees. Judy Witt
Judy Witt is a longtime community volunteer with expertise in fundraising and event planning. She presently serves on the boards of CenterStage, Baltimore Choral Arts Society, and the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, and is active in the Women’s Committee of the Walter’s Art Museum. Appointed to the Friends School Board of Trustees in 2011, she is the mother of a Friends student. She is a member of the Capital Campaign Steering Committee.
