Biography

 

Matthew W. Micciche is Head of Friends School of Baltimore, a 225 year-old independent, Quaker, co-ed, college preparatory day school serving 950 students age four through grade 12. In this role, he oversees operations of the school, including management of its division principals and administrative team, and provides vision and leadership for its faculty, students, parents and alumni.

A graduate of Amherst College (B.A.), Tufts University (M.A.T.) and Middlebury College, Bread Loaf School of English (M.A.), he most recently served as Assistant Head of School for Academics at Wilmington Friends, a co-ed Quaker day school with 800 students in pre-school through grade 12. There, he was charged with coordinating curriculum across the school’s three divisions and supervising its academic department heads, as well as overseeing development of the school’s technology program and reaccreditation process.

Mr. Micciche serves on the Board of the National Center for Independent School Renewal, the Middle Grades Partnership, and the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Mr. Micciche was appointed Head of Friends School of Baltimore in July 2005. Mr. Micciche and his wife Frances have three children, Peter, Eliza and David.
