Friends School began hosting Parent Affinity group gatherings in Spring 2011. The purpose of many of these gatherings is to provide a space for parents to come together to discuss matters affecting minority groups within our community. In response to requests from parents, we expanded the affinity groups in the Spring of 2012 to include a White Identity Exploration group, a group focusing on a majority on campus, where participants can engage in discussions about how their identity impacts their lives. We hope these meetings will further strengthen our community. Meetings are open to those who identify with these groups and to allies. We hope to expand these groups to include other affinity groups in the future if a need or desire arises.
All events will be led by parent volunteers and will take place in the ZAC from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Babysitting and light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to Felicia Wilks at fwilks@friendsbalt.org or 410-649-3289. In your RSVP, please indicate whether you will need a sitter.
