The Baltimore Tennis Patrons offers fall and winter Junior Indoor Tennis Leagues. The league provides instruction, practice and team tennis October through February for boys and girls through 4th grade through 12th grade, post-beginner through tournament ability levels. Practices and matches are played on Friday evenings or Saturday or Sunday afternoons or evenings at indoor tennis clubs throughout the Greater Baltimore area. There are four leagues. The Red League and the White League are comprised of teams with boys and girls on each team managed by adult volunteer coaches. The Blue and the Green League offer instruction with trained instructors, drilling and match play practice.
The Baltimore Tennis Patrons also offer a summer program at outdoor facilities throughout the Greater Baltimore area.
The goals of the Leagues are to provide junior players with opportunities to improve through practice and playing with boys and girls of comparable skill level across the community. Emphasis is on improvement, not current skill level or winning. For More information call The Baltimore Tennis Patrons at 410-296-2100.
There are many opportunities for tennis players to improve their skills and game playing strategy. Most tennis clubs offer group clinics and individual instruction from October through May. Bare Hills Racquet Club, Greenspring Racquet Club, Orchards Tennis and Fitness, Cross Keys Tennis and Hilton Fitness and Tennis are local facilities that provide instruction. Call the club to obtain information about available teaching pros and their programs. During the summer months, many of these same tennis pros run their own clinics or are part of a camp program. Summer programs are offered at Friends School, Gilman, Roland Park Country School and McDonogh School. In addition, some private tennis clubs allow non-members to take individual and group instruction lessons from the pro in residence.
