Wrestlers on the North Baltimore Wrestling Club are expected to have wrestling shoes, headgear, and a red and black or blue and green (depending on team) singlet. We offer singlets, as well as a wide variety of other team apparel (but not shoes or headgear), through a local company, Maryland Brand Management. Our gear will be ordered during the second week of practice. We will take orders for gear at practice, but it is far easier if you fill out your gear order with your team application. If you do not do this, please make sure that you attend early practices prepared to place your order.
Here is a downloadable form for your NBWC singlet, tshirt, hoodie, and short order. Please print a copy, fill it out, and return it to Jack Melocik (at Gilman practice) by Tuesday, Nov. 15th with a check payable to North Baltimore Wrestling Club. If you miss this deadline, you must be aware that your equipment will not arrive as soon.
Most wrestlers prefer to practice in shorts, tshirt and wrestling shoes. The coaching staff strongly recommends that they practice in their headgear as well. Wrestlers who do not own their own headgear can borrow one during their matches, but they will be sharing it with others on the team during that event. Mouthguards are extremely important for kids with braces.
Many wrestlers find that knee pads are helpful in avoiding mat burn, but they are not mandatory.
