10/9/07The North Baltimore Wrestling Club is a club team that participates in the Upper Chesapeake Wrestling League. Our home sites are the Friends School of Baltimore, Loyola Blakefield, and the Gilman School, but the team is open to wrestlers from all over the North Baltimore area. Our team last year included participants from 34 private and public schools.
The NBWC provides an opportunity for beginning and experienced wrestlers to develop their skills in an environment that is both supportive and challenging. Wrestling is a sport that showcases individual achievement as much as team success. As a club, our participants develop their skills to the highest level possible while developing confidence and maturity that will stay with them for life.
The NBWC practices in the Friends, Loyola and Gilman School wrestling rooms from early November until early March (late February for Novice level). Practice runs from 6:30 until 8:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Matches and tournaments are scheduled on weekends, and the coaching staff determines which events will provide the most appropriate level of competition for each wrestler. A yearly fee of $75.00 covers team registration and a USA Wrestling card. Wrestlers are also expected to purchase a team uniform for $38.00. Scholarships are available based on need - please click here for information.
The NBWC is run entirely by volunteers, including all of the coaches. All parents are expected to assist the team in some way. Examples of where we need assistance: carpooling, concession sales, scorekeeping, and administrative work. Parents with wrestling experience are welcome to join the coaching staff.
NBWC is a 501 c-3 corporation devoted to encouraging kids in the great sport of wrestling. Donations to the NBWC are fully tax deductible. If you are interested in making a donation, please click here.
