In Friends Lower School, students learn to explore opportunities, take healthy risks and master essential skills in an environment that both nurtures and challenges them. The strong academic program gives the support students need to learn and succeed. Quaker principals are at the heart of Friends School and guide the Pre-K through Grade Five educational program.
Pre-Kindergarten through Pre-First classes meet in the School’s Pre-Primary building, which features a spacious multi-purpose room and playground. Students in Grades One through Five work and learn in the main Lower School facilities, which, in addition to classrooms, house a library, designated spaces for art, music, science and technology, and playground facilities.
Students begin each day with a worship time centered on such Quaker tenets as community, service, and the environment, and reflect on topics involving values, communication skills, responsible decision making, and religions of the world. Weekly Meeting for Worship, a time of quiet reflection, allows an opportunity for sharing thought-provoking stories and queries such as “What does equality look and feel like in our community?”
