Student Services:

Learning Specialist

The Lower School Learning Specialist oversees learning support services and serves as a resource for students, parents, and faculty. For those students who have a diagnosed learning disability and have the documentation on file with the school, a Report Summary is prepared outlining for the teachers the student’s relative strengths/weaknesses and report recommendations. Accommodations and modifications are monitored on a regular basis.

Since Lower School is the division where learning differences are often first diagnosed, the Learning Specialist is available to walk parents through the testing process, when appropriate, offering guidance regarding how and where to find an outside educational evaluation. Limited informal testing is available and can be formed in small groups for short term assistance. The purpose of the groups is to support or enrich skills in math, reading and writing. The Learning Specialist will help with outside referrals for those students who need long term academic support.

There is close coordination among the three division learning specialists to ensure optimal transitions for the students.
