Friends School of Baltimore
The middle school years are a wonderful, but complex time in the life of a child. This transition between childhood and adulthood brings dramatic physical changes, intellectual development, and emotional maturation, all marked by joyful accomplishments, significant challenges, and intense disappointments. Helping our children navigate this period requires a mindful and collaborative approach on the part of their parents and teachers.

At Friends Middle School, we provide the structure and resources to help meet the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of our students, so that they can fully develop their talents and skills. Our program is built on three pillars of learning: Habits of the Mind (Creativity, Curiosity, Empathy, Reflection, Resiliency), Skills (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Information Literacy), and Knowledge (Content and Concepts) and is designed to expose our students to a full range of academic and non-academic experiences that will help prepare them for an increasingly complex world. With their keen understanding and appreciation of this age group, our faculty act as guides and mentors to our students, helping them build a strong sense of self that will allow them to thrive in their lives no matter what path they choose. The positive relationships between teachers and students create a rich and powerful learning environment.
