Baltimore, MD—Parents of students of color are invited to join Director of Diversity Felicia Wilks and fellow Friends School moms and dads for an Affinity Group discussion on Monday, December 5, from 6-7:30 pm in the Zamoiski Alumni Center. Light refreshments will be served and childcare is provided upon advance request.
Sponsored by the Diversity Council, the Affinity gatherings provide a space for parents to come together to discuss matters affecting minority groups within the Friends community, according to Wilks. “We want to create a space for parents from diverse families to come together and discuss matters affecting them,” she says. “We hope these meetings will help participants feel further connected to and supported by the School community.”
The School hosted its first Affinity Gathering of the year—for same-sex parents—on November 4. An Affinity Gathering for parents of adopted children will take place on Friday, February 24, 2012. Plans for additional spring 2012 Parent Affinity Gatherings are in the works, so stay tuned.
All events will take place in the Zamoiski Alumni Center from 6-7:30pm. For more information, click here.
