Baltimore, MD—Friends Upper School will present Woody Allen’s 1966 Broadway comedy “Don’t Drink the Water” on Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, at 7:30 pm, in the School’s Forbush Auditorium, 5114 N. Charles Street. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.

Set inside an American embassy behind the Iron Curtain, the play follows the antics of the Hollander family—Walter, Marion and their daughter Susan (played, respectively, by Eric Ritter ’12, Abby Preston ’12 and Suzannah Samuel ‘12)—who become entangled in diplomatic red tape after Walter is accused by a Communist police officer (Caleb Brooks ‘14) of being a spy. The embassy provides little refuge, however, since the ambassador (Bennett Remsberg ‘12) is absent and his hapless son (Will McAllen ‘12), now in charge, has been expelled from a dozen countries and the continent of Africa. Nevertheless, the American family frantically plots their escape and the ambassador’s son and Susan Hollander fall in love. Directed by Declan Meagher ‘12, produced by Dalton White ’12 and assistant directed by Jennifer Kneebone ‘13, “Don’t Drink the Water” is entirely student run. The show is rated PG for mild violence and mild language.
