2012 FSAA Awards Night celebrates Friends’ top athletes

 

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 25, 2012

Baltimore, MD—At the annual FSAA Awards Night on June 8 the following special awards were presented to Upper School student-athletes for their outstanding athletic performance, dedication and leadership on the playing fields and courts.

Tom LaMonica ’67 Award, presented to student athletes who, in the words of the beloved Friends School coach, “endeavor to persevere.” These athletes, while not the MVPs, work hard, strive for excellence and maintain a positive attitude during challenging circumstances: LaShea Dixon ‘12, Michael Rudow ‘12

Arthur O Gray Award, presented to a young man whose athletic ability and achievement approaches the Friends School ideal of excellence: Paul Orrson ‘12

Marian B. Millard Award, presented to a young woman who best exemplifies sportsmanship, leadership, ability and enthusiasm in her athletic endeavors: Ella Cooper ‘12, Emma Sissman ‘12, Aislinn Cook ‘12

Eleanor High Award, presented to the unsung athlete whose special spirit and enthusiasm are an inspiration to others: Lucy Klein ’12, Sarah Wallack ’12, Declan Meagher ‘12

Carol J. Samuels Award, presented to a young woman who demonstrates dedication and determination in the sport of lacrosse: Emma Sissman ‘12, Ella Cooper ‘12

Robert A. Nicolls Award, presented to a young man who demonstrates dedication and determination in the sport of lacrosse: Dave Magdeburger ‘12

Pieter J. DeSmit Award, presented to the athletes who have demonstrated sportsmanship, leadership, dedication and proficiency in the sport of soccer: Nabil Odulate ’12, Eliza Harris ‘14

12-Varsity Letter Award, presented to three-sport athletes who compete at the Varsity level throughout all four years of high school: Lucy Klein ’12, Emma Sissman ’12, Ella Cooper ‘12

Scarlet and Gray Society, presented to athletes who have competed with distinction and demonstrated good sportsmanship on five Varsity teams in three different Upper School sports. The following members of the Class of 2012 have been inducted into the Society: Ella Cooper, Lucy Klein, Emma Sissman, Paul Orrson, Lizzy Banta, Corey Schmidt, Matt Lambros, Aislinn Cook, Sarah Wallack, Nurisha Rodriquez, Lauren Riley, David Magdeburger, Billy Scaletta

FSAA Award, given to those students whose unselfish dedication has greatly benefited athletics at Friends: Nurisha Rodriguez ‘12, Jonathan Kum ‘12, Emma Sissman ‘12
