Alumnus Andrew Kirkpatrick '14 recently returned to Friends School to speak with the Russian V Class about how learning Russian has shaped his life.
After graduating from Friends, Andrew went on to major in Russian at Georgetown University, graduating in 2018. He has since worked as a grants manager for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, and through that work has traveled extensively in the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
The ACTR (American Council of Teachers of Russian) interviewed Andrew last summer on how the study of Russian has impacted the trajectory of his life. He spoke passionately about his life's path with words and insight that could inspire the next generation to find meaning in their language study and to see connections between the study of language and culture and the world of work.
