Amaia E. ’27 Qualifies for USA Climbing Youth National Championship

Congratulations to Amaia E. ’27 for qualifying for the 2026 USA Climbing Youth National Championships!

In May, Amaia, who has been climbing since she was 11 years old, placed second in the highly competitive Youth Divisional Championship Boulder Qualifier and fifth in the Final, advancing her to the Youth National Championship and cementing her as one of the top climbers in her U19 age category.

The 2026 Youth National Championship will be hosted in Utah this summer, from June 26 through July 3, where 24 national champions competing in Boulder, Lead/Top Rope, and Speed will be crowned. This event will also determine the Youth National Team that will represent the United States at the World Climbing Youth Championship in Italy later this summer. Congratulations, Amaia, on this incredible accomplishment!

At Friends School of Baltimore, we regard our athletics as an essential part of our curriculum and an important element of our students’ education. We believe that our students benefit from experiencing the challenges and joys of athletic competition and that the learning experiences provided by athletics are unique and important to a child’s development. While Friends School offers 50 different athletic teams in Middle and Upper School on campus, the School supports students whose athletic passions are not offered to pursue them off campus. Credit is earned through Independent Physical Activity (IPA) participation to satisfy the physical education and athletics graduation requirements.
