FSB to welcome D. Watkins for MLK Day of Service

The 17th Annual Friends School MLK Day of Service will take place virtually on Monday, January 18, 2021. Each year the FSB community gathers to reflect on the principles of nonviolent social change and racial equality through community service and events for all ages.

This year's keynote speaker is Baltimore native and internationally acclaimed author, D. Watkins.  A college lecturer at the University of Baltimore and founder of the BMORE Writers Project, Watkins is from and lives in Baltimore. He is the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Beast Side:  Living (and Dying) While Black in America, The Cook Up:  A Crack Rock Memoir, We Speak for Ourselves: A Word from Forgotten Black America and We Speak for Ourselves: How Woke Culture Prohibits Progress.

Watkins will give a 30-minute book talk about his latest book, We Speak for Ourselves: How Woke Culture Prohibits Progress. To purchase an autographed copy of the book at a discount go to the IvyKids Authors website or stop by the Ivy Bookstore and tell them you are purchasing the book for Friends School MLK day of Service (especially if you're looking for a last-minute holiday present).
