FSB to welcome Jabari Lyles for MLK Day of Service

The 18th Annual Friends School MLK Day of Service will take place virtually on Monday, January 17, 2022. Each year the FSB community gathers to reflect on the principles of nonviolent social change and racial equality through community service and events for all ages.

Jabari Lyles, an educator, nonprofit leader and community leader in Baltimore, will be our keynote speaker at the virtual Welcome Breakfast. His work focuses on positive outcomes for youth and the LGBTQ community, especially LGBTQ youth of color. With over fifteen years of experience working with schools, government and nonprofits, Jabari emphasizes his passion for education, social justice and public service. Jabari has given a TEDx Talk entitled “Black Self / White World — lessons on internalized racism.”

Be it making Warmth Kits in your own home for Healthcare for the Homeless, having your child share their skills/talents or favorite jokes with senior grandfriends at Broadmead, walking 1 mile (or running 10K!) for Baltimore Safe Haven, or donating to our Donation Drives, there are many meaningful ways to give back to our community.

“We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

-Martin Luther King Jr
