Hadynn S. ’27 Named “The Three A’s” September Honoree

At Friends School, our students are encouraged to be well-rounded and explore a variety of activities in academics, athletics, and the arts. This is true in many schools, but at Friends, our schedules are designed to allow our students to participate fully in each activity. We give them time and space to pursue their academic interests and extracurricular passions. Our “freedom within structure” approach provides a clear framework that empowers student agency and fosters deep, meaningful engagement. It’s what a Friends education is all about.

The Athletic Department, in partnership with faculty members, highlights athletes who exemplify what it means to excel in “the three A’s.”

Congratulations to September’s honoree, Hadynn S. ’27

Athletics: Hadynn leads by example both on and off the field and court as a three-sport athlete. Hadynn is a four-year player on the Varsity Field Hockey team and commands the backfield as goalkeeper. Racking up saves, Hadynn finished the 2025-26 season with an impressive 70% save percentage. They lead by example on the field and frequently share insights during team huddles to help strengthen the defense. A natural team leader, Hadynn guides the small but mighty group of goalkeepers, making sure the keepers are practiced, prepared, and ready to compete. Hadynn spent the summer continuing to develop their goalkeeping skills, and it shows! They have added a new repertoire of dives and slides that the team is eager to see put into action this season. Hadynn’s performance in goal this fall will be sure to push the team toward a successful season.

Hadynn has been on the Varsity Squash team since ninth grade. They are a natural motivator and step in when teammates are struggling, reminding the team of their goals and providing extra encouragement when it matters most. Hadynn’s leadership and positive energy make them an important part of the team.

Hadynn has also been on the Varsity Softball team since ninth grade! They will be a welcome addition to the team this spring when they return from a semester abroad. They have excellent bat-to-ball skills and work extremely hard to improve every day.

Academics: Hadynn has an A+ cumulative grade average and did a semester away at the Mountain School in Vermont last spring. They were on the semester one honor roll last year and are currently working towards the STEM Scholars Certificate.

Arts: Hadynn is a top-tier musician and has been a steadfast leader in the band program at Friends School since starting clarinet in the fourth grade. Not only does Hadynn play the clarinet in the Wind Ensemble and saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble, but they’ve also graced the band room with several original pieces of artwork! Hadynn’s lasting contributions to the Instrumental Music Department and community at Friends School are simply immeasurable.
