Hannah R. ’26 Named "The Three A's" March Honoree

At Friends, our students are encouraged to be well-rounded and explore a variety of activities in academics, athletics, and the arts. This is true in many schools, but at Friends, our schedules are designed to allow our students to participate fully in each activity. We give them time and space to pursue their academic interests and extracurricular passions. Our “freedom within structure” approach provides a clear framework that empowers student agency and fosters deep, meaningful engagement. It’s what a Friends education is all about.

This year, our Athletics Department, in partnership with faculty members, is highlighting athletes who exemplify what it means to excel in "the three A's."

Congratulations to March’s honoree, Hannah R. ’26!

Athletics: Hannah R. ’26 is entering her fourth year of softball, where she has been the starting pitcher since her sophomore year. Hannah also managed the IAAM varsity soccer team in her junior year and loved the opportunity, as she got to learn a lot about soccer, which she had previously known little about.

Academics: Hannah’s athletic achievements are only one part of her incredible story; she loves learning. Her favorite class is French, which she hopes to be fluent in one day. Kristen Andrews, Upper School French Teacher, says, “Hannah is a great French student who is very interested in all things related to language and cultures in Francophone areas of the world. An avid baseball fan, she combined these two interests with a trip to Canada last summer. She’ll also be traveling to France with us this month for the immersion program, where she’ll live with a French family and go to school with her host sibling.” Next year, Hannah will attend Emory University, where she plans to study political science and, hopefully, one day be a lawyer.

Arts: Beyond the field and the classroom, Hannah has been part of the chorus all four years and participated in the Upper School Musicals during her sophomore and junior years. Michael McVey, Upper School Choral Teacher, says, “Hannah has been a loyal member of the Concert Chorale for four years and is a ‘trouper’ as we say in theater.” In her freshman and sophomore year, Hannah took some of the letter block art classes. She likes art, technology, media, design, and painting.
