Jack M. ’26 Named "The Three A's" May Honoree

At Friends, our students are encouraged to be well-rounded and explore a variety of activities in academics, athletics, and the arts. This is true in many schools, but at Friends, our schedules are designed to allow our students to participate fully in each activity. We give them time and space to pursue their academic interests and extracurricular passions. Our “freedom within structure” approach provides a clear framework that empowers student agency and fosters deep, meaningful engagement. It’s what a Friends education is all about.

This year, our Athletics Department, in partnership with faculty members, is highlighting athletes who exemplify what it means to excel in "the three A's."

Congratulations to May’s honoree, Jack M. ’26!

Athletics: Jack has been a true utility player and leader over his four years with the baseball program. As a team captain, he has played every position except catcher and always puts the team first. This season, he is hitting over .500 and has been a steady presence in the lineup for a very young team. More importantly, Jack leads by example. His work ethic, toughness, and positive energy have helped guide and support his teammates all season.

Academics: Friends School faculty members love having Jack in their classrooms because he is the go-to student for class participation, debating ideas, and presenting a different point of view. Jack often likes to take the opposing viewpoint, mainly to extend conversations and expand perspectives. Jack’s been enrolled in advanced courses in math and science throughout high school, and has been an outstanding performer in all subjects. Jack’s academic achievement has improved every year as he’s taken on more rigor, taking our most challenging courses in every academic discipline.

Arts: Jack is the first chair saxophone section leader for the Upper School Wind Ensemble, serving as an excellent example and role model for the younger members of the Ensemble. Not only is Jack a great musician, but he is also a steadfast and conscientious leader at every rehearsal. Thank you, Jack, for four years of service and commitment to the Wind Ensemble and Friends School of Baltimore’s music department!
