Lara H. ’26 Named "The Three A's" November Honoree

At Friends, our students are encouraged to be well-rounded and explore a variety of activities in academics, athletics, and the arts. This is true in many schools, but at Friends, our schedules are designed to allow our students to participate fully in each activity. We give them time and space to pursue their academic interests and extracurricular passions. Our “freedom within structure” approach provides a clear framework that empowers student agency and fosters deep, meaningful engagement. It’s what a Friends education is all about.

This year, our Athletics Department, in partnership with faculty members, is highlighting athletes who exemplify what it means to excel in "the three A's."

Congratulations to November's honoree, Lara H. ’26!

Athletics: Lara’s energy and leadership shine brightest when she’s on the move. As Co-Head and Founder of the Run Club, she revitalized the school’s running community, creating an inclusive space for students to stay active and connected. Whether competing in Cross Country or Track and Field, Lara leads by example, showing perseverance, sportsmanship, and a passion for teamwork that inspires everyone around her. A highlight of the Fall Sports Season was watching Lara's team win the IAAM Cross Country Championship!

Academics: Lara’s academic achievements reflect her curiosity, discipline, and love of learning. From her research work with the Baltimore Chapter of Top Gun Laparoscopic Surgery to her internship in Otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins, she pursues excellence with focus and integrity. Whether assisting in biology classes, earning Latin honors, or guiding younger students as a peer educator, Lara embodies the spirit of scholarship and leadership that defines the Friends School mission.

Arts: On stage and behind the camera, Lara’s creativity knows no bounds. She has taken leading roles in You Can’t Take It With You, Trap, and Clue, bringing characters to life through dedication and artistry. As Senior Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook, she ensures every student’s story is told beautifully, blending her artistic vision with her commitment to celebrating the school community.
