Mark Guthrie '86 Creates a Book Highlighting the 1984 Championship Soccer Team
Mark Guthrie '86 has written a book highlighting the star players, team spirit, and excellent coaching of the 1984 soccer team that beat the odds and won the "B" conference championship. When asked why he decided to write Inspired: The Story of the Friends School Soccer Champions of 1984 he said, "I enjoyed the camaraderie of playing on Friends' soccer teams. In 1984, we finished the season with an improbable conference championship. Our inspiration came from Coach Pieter DeSmit H'95 who told us early on we had a chance to win it all."
