Nate L. ’26 Named "The Three A's" October Honoree

At Friends, our students are encouraged to be well-rounded and explore a variety of activities in academics, athletics, and the arts. This is true in many schools, but at Friends, our schedules are designed to allow our students to participate fully in each activity. We give them time and space to pursue their academic interests and extracurricular passions. Our “freedom within structure” approach provides a clear framework that empowers student agency and fosters deep, meaningful engagement. It’s what a Friends education is all about.

This year, our Athletics Department, in partnership with faculty members, is highlighting athletes who exemplify what it means to excel in "the three A's."

Congratulations to October's honoree, Nate L. ’26!

Athletics - Nate is a strong cross-country runner who consistently finishes near the front of the pack in meets. His dedication to training and natural endurance have made him a reliable and competitive member of the team. Nate’s perseverance and strategic pacing during races allow him to maintain a steady and impressive performance, often pushing himself and inspiring his teammates to improve. His commitment to the sport, combined with his ability to perform well under pressure, makes him an invaluable asset to the cross country team.

Academics - Nate has been outstanding this year in Special Topics in Physics, building on the impressive foundation he established in Accelerated Physics last year. His natural talent for the subject is evident, but what sets Nate apart is his humility and generosity with his time and knowledge. He consistently supports and uplifts his peers, contributing meaningfully to the learning environment and helping to raise the overall level of the class. Nate brings focus, maturity, and quiet leadership to everything he does, and he continues to excel academically while handling a demanding schedule. He’s a standout student in every sense.

Arts - Nate brings both talent and leadership to our Wind and Jazz Ensembles, where he plays trombone and piano. As a section leader, Nate sets a high standard for musical excellence while fostering a spirit of collaboration and respect among his peers. He consistently demonstrates Quaker values- integrity, community, and simplicity- not only in rehearsal but also in the classroom. Faculty members say it is a joy to have him in the classroom!
