Middle School Leadership Voyage

Middle School Leadership Voyage

Members of the Student Leadership Committee (SLC) participated in a leadership training and bonding event aboard the Denis Sullivan vessel in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Sailing from Port Covington, students engaged in hands-on interactions with the marine world while practicing social-emotional skills such as communication, teamwork, and resilience in an environment that is new, challenging, fun, and safe. This trip also worked to connect academic concepts like geometry, physics, and marine biology to life aboard a historic landmark schooner.

Friends School partnered with the World Ocean School for this exciting opportunity. The World Ocean School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing experiential education abroad the Denis Sullivan. The vessel is operated by a professional crew of sailors and educators and has served over 23,000 students since 2006.

The SLC, a Middle School Club, is one of many clubs that Friends has to offer. Friends' vibrant culture of clubs, activities, and organizations allows students to share their diverse talents and interests with like-minded peers while simultaneously developing leadership skills and friendships.
