On Saturday, October 5, a small cohort of students in the Social Justice Practitioners Course, taught by our Director of DEI, Dr. Whittney Preston, traveled down to Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. for a one-day workshop led by Close Up, and the Deliberative Democracy Lab (DDL) at Stanford University. Our Social Justice Practitioner Course students spent the day engaging with other high school students from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia on various public policy issues. Throughout the workshop, our students deliberated on both community and national policy issues, thought through possible resolutions that were in the best interests of communities nationwide, and asked questions of a panel of policy experts with different political perspectives.
