Tommy Goldman ’08 Invites the Friends Community to Professional Lacrosse in Baltimore

Friends School alum Tommy Goldman ’08 is inviting the Friends community to join him in Baltimore this weekend as the Premier Lacrosse League and Women’s Lacrosse League come to town.

Tommy, a member of the Friends School Athletic Hall of Fame, grew up playing lacrosse at Friends and went on to build a career at the highest levels of the sport. Today, he serves as the Director of Assists, the nonprofit arm of the PLL and WLL, where he works to expand access to the game through youth programming, HBCU partnerships, and equipment distribution initiatives across the country and internationally.

As part of that work, Tommy has generously offered complimentary tickets to members of the Friends community, with a limit of 2 tickets per person. Games take place Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening.

“Coming home to Baltimore this weekend, and I want the Friends community there with me.

The fields at Friends School are where my love of lacrosse began. Coming back to Baltimore with the PLL and WLL, and bringing it back home for me, is one of the more meaningful weekends of our year.

Tickets are on us. Bring your family, your kids, the lacrosse players in your life, and anyone who’s never picked up a stick.

See you out there.”

The connection between Tommy and Assists is also rooted in the Friends community through fellow alum Kyle Harrison ’01, founder and board member of Assists, whose impact on the sport spans a legendary playing career, national championships, Hall of Fame honors, and continued leadership growing the game for future generations. Kyle has also served as a mentor to Tommy throughout his career.

About Tommy Goldman ’08

Dr. Tommy Goldman ’08 serves as the Director of Assists, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm of the Premier Lacrosse League and Women’s Lacrosse League. Under his leadership, Assists works to grow the game in communities where access, not interest or talent, has been the barrier through initiatives ranging from HBCU lacrosse support to urban youth programming and equipment distribution.

Before joining the PLL and WLL, Tommy taught high school English and coached lacrosse in urban public schools. He later earned his Doctorate in Education Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a path deeply connected to his lifelong interest in learning, coaching & mentorship, and expanding opportunities for young people.

During his time at Friends, Tommy developed a passion for the School’s “3 A’s” — athletics, arts, and academics — experiences that continue to shape both his personal and professional life today.

In addition to athletics, Tommy has long been passionate about music. He played guitar in the Lower School rock band, took private lessons with beloved Friends music teacher Paul Yutzy, and later performed in the Upper School band. Today, he still enjoys playing guitar at local events and businesses on weekends in Burlington, Vermont, where he lives with his wife, two sons, and dog.
