Upper School STEM Speaker Series Welcomes Manufacturing Engineer from Ford Motor Company

As part of the Upper School STEM Speaker Series, we welcomed Ava Drum, a manufacturing engineer at Ford Motor Company in Michigan. Drum spoke about her experience working in six different engineering divisions at Ford before discussing her current position in the manufacturing division. She brought a wealth of knowledge about different career paths for an engineer in the vehicle industry.

Each year, Friends School's STEM Speaker Series hosts guests from a variety of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields who share their professional journey and details about their research and work with interested students. Fields represented include astronomy, engineering, medicine, neuroscience, genetics, biology, and a variety of other disciplines.

About Ava Drum:

Ava Drum is a Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineer in the Ford College Graduate rotational program at Ford Motor Company. A high school graduate of Roland Park Country School, Drum then graduated from Penn State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a certificate in Earth Sustainability, with Honors in Industrial Engineering. While earning her degree, Drum held internships at a non-profit abroad, an environmental Research Program, Siemens USA, and Ford Motor Company, before accepting a full-time position at Ford Motor Company after graduation, where she has since worked in six different engineering divisions before working in her current division as a Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineer.
