GRADES PK-1
Follow these step-by-step instructions on how to apply to grades PK-1.
STEP ONE
Action: We encourage you to attend one or more of our fall admission events, such as Admission Group Tours, First Look at Friends, or Binoculars, Birds, & Bugs!

Action: Complete the Admission Application. Apply Now.
Due Date: Tuesday, December 15, 2026

STEP THREE
Action: Parent/Caregiver Interview
What: A Parent/Caregiver Interview is required for all applicants. It is an opportunity to connect with a member of the Friends School Admission Team and share more about your child.
Important: You may self-schedule your Parent/Caregiver Interview through your Application Checklist in myFriends.
STEP FOUR
Action: Assessment Visit
What: The Assessment visit is required for all Applicants to pre-kindergarten—grade 1. Your Admission Associate will provide information on how to schedule this assessment after you apply.

Action: Common Referral Form (CRF)
What: Friends School requires a CRF from current teachers or daycare providers. Please log in to your checklist on myFriends to email the request to your child’s teacher or school.
Due Date: Friday, January 15, 2027
Important: This form must come directly from the current school or daycare provider of your child. If your child is not currently in a school or daycare setting, an external adult (e.g. dance instructor, music teacher, soccer coach, etc.) who knows the child can fill out the form in lieu of a classroom teacher.
Admission Deadlines for the 2027-28 School Year
Candidate Notification
Applicants who have submitted a timely application and completed all the required steps of the admission process will be given an admission decision on February 19, 2027. Note that the Little Friends application, notification timeline, and program are separate from the admission process and program for Friends School of Baltimore.
GRADES 2-5

Action: Shadow Day
What: A Shadow Day gives your child the opportunity to experience what it feels like to learn and belong at Friends.
Due Date: The Shadow Day must be completed before Friday, February 5, 2027.
Important: Once your application has been processed, you will be able to self-schedule the Shadow Day in myFriends. The Shadow Day visit is from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

What: Friends School requires a common referral form from a current academic teacher. Please log in to your Admission Checklist on myFriends to email the CRF request to your child’s teacher or school.
Due Date: Friday, January 15, 2027

STEP SEVEN
Action: Admission Testing
What: Students applying to Grades 2-5 are required to complete admission testing (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, Stanford Achievement Test, and writing sample). Admission Testing at Friends School is scheduled for December 12, 2026.
Please note that students applying to Grades 3-5 have the option to complete either the Lower School Admission Testing or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). To learn more about ISEE or to register, please visit the ISEE website.

What: A Shadow Day gives your child the opportunity to experience what it feels like to learn and belong at Friends. They will be paired with a current Friends student based upon shared interests.
Due Date: The Shadow Day must be completed before Friday, February 5, 2027.
Important: Once your application has been processed, you will be able to self-schedule the Shadow Day in myFriends. The Middle School Shadow Day is from 8:15 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The Upper School Shadow Day is from 8:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.

Action: Submit Two Common Referral Forms (CRFs)
What: Friends School requires one Common Referral Form from the student’s current English teacher and one from their current math teacher. Please log in to your Admission Checklist on myFriends to email the CRF request to your child’s teacher or school.

Important: This form must come directly from the current school or daycare provider of your child.
STEP SEVEN
Action: Admission Testing
What: Students applying to grades 6-12 must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or provide a copy of results taken within the most recent school year.
Form: Please contact ISEE with any questions and to register for an upcoming exam date.
