Arts at Friends
Friends’ celebrated visual and performing arts program instills in students a love of creative expression through the full range of offerings – from drawing and painting, to traditional and digital photography, audio-visual production, stagecraft, dance, drama, and music, both choral and instrumental.
Guided by expert teachers who work individually with them to cultivate their unique gifts, students at every grade level gain confidence in their abilities and delight in the works of their peers during well-attended exhibitions and performances.
Through their experiences in the art studio, MakerSpace, band and orchestra rooms, dance studio, or on the stage, Friends students discover their passions and talents and develop an affinity for engaging and communicating with their peers. Upper level students who are committed to more in-depth experiences are able to pursue their passions with advanced programming that includes portfolio preparation in either Fine or Performing Arts.
The fine arts program at Friends develops technical abilities and personal vision through the study of a variety of traditional and contemporary media.
Friends’ tradition of joyful music making is reflected in the passion with which our students and faculty approach each performance.
Led by dedicated faculty, students are able to cultivate their curiosity, improve skills, and discover the joy of making art in community with others.
As both an art form and a discipline, our dance program develops the overall dancer with a curriculum that explores dance from many perspectives
