Counselor in Training Program

A Leadership Training Experience for Future Counselors Ages 14-15

Designed for teens who truly enjoy working with young children, this program provides Counselors in Training (CIT) with hands-on experience and guidance in becoming successful camp counselors. Working under the supervision of experienced counselors, CITs enjoy connecting with campers while modeling positive behavior. There is no fee for this program, but enrollment is limited. Applicants must commit to one 4-week session and, if accepted, must attend pre-camp meetings and trainings to learn about Summer at Friends policies, procedures, and expectations. Completion of the program does not guarantee that CITs will be hired as future paid counselors for Summer at Friends.

To apply: visit the Camp Staff Portal and complete the “Counselor-in-Training Application”. All applications must be submitted online. All applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance into the program. Decisions are made on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into consideration CITs’ availability and qualifications, and the Camp’s needs.

Please check with your advisor to ensure this program meets your school’s community service requirements. This program does not meet the requirements for students attending Friends School of Baltimore.
