Neumann Merit Award

The Doris Neumann Merit Award is a 50% grant toward tuition costs and is awarded annually to two new students applying for grades 6, 7, or 8. This scholarship is named in honor of longtime Middle School teacher Doris Neumann '98, who sought to instill in her students a genuine passion for inquiry and a willingness to serve others. This award is renewable for the duration of their enrollment at Friends School.

Applicants considered for a Neumann Award will:

  • Be a new applicant for admission to Friends Middle School for grades 6, 7, or 8.
  • Demonstrate a proven record of strong academic achievement through current academic transcripts and ISEE scores.
  • Share talents or passions that will contribute positively to the Middle School community.
  • Exemplify personal values consistent with the mission and testimonies of Friends School.

The Neumann Award Committee will determine the list of semifinalists by the end of January. All semifinalists will be invited to an on-campus interview event in early February.
