Hands on, hearts open

Some 400 parents, students, faculty, and alumni on Monday, January 21 will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of peace and social justice through hands-on service during Friends School’s 15th annual MLK Day of Service.

Sponsored by the Parents Association, the day of fellowship will offer activities for all ages to benefit 16 different nonprofit organizations, including Paul’s Place, Baltimore Hunger Project, Our Daily Bread Employment Center, and Art with a Heart. This year Friends is delighted to welcome to its ranks volunteers from AmeriCorps and more than 20 students and families from Thread, a nonprofit organization that connects underperforming high school students to a family of dedicated volunteers.

Don't miss the Welcome Breakfast with keynote speakers Kenneth Morrison, executive director, DewMore Baltimore, and Maren Wright-Kerr, DewMore’s 2018 Youth Poet Laureate.
