Friends Upper School will present the musical comedy The Addams Family on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at 7:30 pm and on Sunday May 19, at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online with assigned seating by clicking here.
Inspired by the 1964 television series of the same name, the production is directed by Robert Oppel and Michael McVey, musical director, and features America’s favorite “creepy and kooky” family in an original story – one that is every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams (Ana Lane ’21), the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with Lucas (Noah Tunis ’20), a sweet, smart young man from a ‘normal’ family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father, Gomez (Pace Schwarz ’19), and begs him not to tell her mother, Morticia (Shannon McGowan ’19). Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife.
Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s boyfriend and his unwitting straight-arrow parents, Alice and Mal (Hannah Bloom ’19 and Alex Prichett ’19). Look for all of your favorite characters, including Wednesday’s brother Pugsley (Penn Hoen ’20), Grandma (Maren Helmacy ’20), Uncle Fester (Kees Nachbahr ’19), and the family’s faithful butler, Lurch (Parker Hollendoner ’21), plus Thing, Cousin Itt, and an ensemble of more than 40 Addams ancestors, who will sing, dance, and leave you snapping your fingers to that inimitable theme song.
Enjoy a lighthearted evening of entertainment and support our talented students.
