Honoring athletic excellence

The Athletic Department honored Upper School athletes at the annual Friends School Athletic Association awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 28. Over the course of the evening 55 student-athletes received FSAA awards for their hard work, determination, improved skills, competitiveness, leadership and other qualities that helped elevate team play on the fields and courts.

In addition to the FSAA awards, the department conferred 33 All-Conference awards to top athletes and 10 Scarlet and Gray Awards, given to seniors who achieve Varsity status in three different sports over five seasons in their high school career, to the Class of 2019’s Tess Baroody, McKenna Klausner, Josh Moylan, Bria Randolph, Neely McGinty, Zachary Smith, Charessa Crosse, Sam Hass, Grace Deller and Jordan Klawans.

Rita Li ’20 was  honored during the evening for earning her second straight IAAM Singles A Conference Badminton Championship.

As the night unfolded several special recognition awards were also presented:
• Francis M. Homer Award for Field Hockey: Olivia Nengel ‘20
• Pieter J. DeSmit Soccer Award: Liam Cullen ’19 and McKenna Klausner ‘19
• Robert A Nichols Award for Men’s Lacrosse: Clayton Abrecht ‘19
• Carol Samuels Award for Women’s Lacrosse: Charessa Crosse ‘19
• Mariam B. Millard Award (Female Athlete): Bria Randolph ‘19
• Arthur O Gray Award (Male Athlete): Liam Cullen ’19 and Chase Kirkwood ‘19
• Eleanor High Award (Unsung Athlete): Lindsay Mosmiller ’19 and Josh Moylan ‘19
• C Markland Kelly Award: Neely McGinty ’19 and Lulu Whitmore ‘19

Finally, Friends teams that appeared in their conference championship games were recognized:
• Runner’s-up: MIAA Varsity Soccer, IAAM Varsity Volleyball and IAAM Field Hockey
• Champions: MIAA Cross Country and MIAA JV Soccer
