New Boys Tennis Coaches Announced

A new era for the program starts.

Baltimore, January 24, 2020: The Friends School of Baltimore Athletic Department announced today they have hired two new coaches to lead the Boys Varsity and JV programs. Eric Sturgis was named the Program Coordinator and Varsity Head Tennis Coach and Heather Fantry was named the Head JV coach. Eric joins us from Morgan State University where he serves as the Assistant Tennis coach for the Bears.

A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Eric has been coaching Tennis for over 18 years. Before joining Morgan State last summer as an assistant coach, Eric coaching stops along the way include Western New Mexico University, Nicholls State University, Lindenwood University, and Lake Superior State University. He also spent 8 years as the Troy High School Tennis coach in Troy Michigan. Please welcome Eric to the Quaker family.

Heather Fantry is no stranger to the Tennis community at Friends as she has been part of the program since 2017. Heather attended Towson High School where she was a Regional champion and placed 3rd in the 2011 MD state tournament. She served as the St. Timothy’s School JV Tennis Coach in 2016 and has been the JV Boys Assistant coach at Gilman School since the spring of 2016. Heather also is a Tennis instructor at the Steve Krulevitz Tennis Camp. We are thrilled to have Heather be an even bigger part of our Tennis program.
