Upper School a cappella group The Pleiades to open for Jay Leno at The Lyric Thurs. Jan. 22
Friends’ all-female a cappella group, The Pleiades, was the opening act for comedian Jay Leno when he presented an evening of chat, comedy and entertainment at the Patricia & Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric on Thursday January 22. Comprised of 12 Upper School girls in grades 9 through 12, the Pleiades is entirely student-directed. Its members annually audition new singers, select and arrange songs, and hold weekly rehearsals outside of school.
“What a remarkable opportunity for these girls and a testament not only to our School’s choral music program but to its focus on community,” says Principal Steve McManus. “These girls are already members of the Upper School chorus and several sing in the chamber choir, yet they choose to come together to share their passion for a cappella music.” Watch a backstage interview video with the Pleiadesas they prepare to take the stage before a sold-out audience.
