Apply to Friends

Thank you for your interest in Friends School of Baltimore!

All steps necessary to complete the application process are outlined on this page. Because requirements vary by grade, please refer to the checklists below. If you have any questions, please contact the Admission Office at 410-649-3211 or admission@friendsbalt.org.

Step 1: Create an Online Account

To apply online, you must first create an account.

  • If you are a new user, please click the button below to create an account and begin the application process.
    • We ask that you please use your first and last name as your username. (e.g. johndoe)
    • This option is not currently available on the iPad and/or Safari browser.
  • If you are a current Friends School or Little Friends parent applying for another child please use your current myFriends username and password.

Step 2: Online Application

Please include the $50 application fee and photo of applicant.
 

Step 3: Visit and Interview

Please contact the Office of Admission at 410-649-3211 to set up a parent interview for applicants in Grades PK-12 and a Shadow Day for applicants in Grades 2-12. Applicants for Grades PK-1 will be notified of a visit assessment morning once the application is received.

  • PreKindergarten to Grade 1

    Parent Interview
    Please contact the Admission Office at 410-649-3211 to schedule a Parent Interview.

    Common Referral Form
    Friends School requires Common Referral Forms from current academic teachers. Completed forms must be mailed, faxed, or emailed directly from current school to Friends. Please complete the Parent Release Form and give it to your child’s current school office along with the Common Referral Form. Common Referral Form is due by January 15. (See AIMS Confidentiality Statement).

    Transcript Release Form
    If transcripts are available from your current school, please complete the Transcript Release Form and give it to your child’s current school office. School records must be mailed, faxed, or emailed directly from your current school to Friends. Forms are due by January 15.

    Admission Assessment
    Admission assessments at Friends School are held December through February. Your visit assessment morning will be scheduled after your application has been received, beginning in early December.

    AIMS Confidentiality Statement
    Please read the AIMS Confidentiality Statement. As a member school, Friends agrees to abide by the procedures and statements expressed by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.
  • Grades 2-5

    Shadow Day and Parent Interview
    Please contact the Admission Office at 410-649-3211 to schedule a Shadow Day and set up a Parent Interview.

    Admission Testing
    Admission testing is offered on Saturday, January 20, 2018, for applicants to Friends (registration requested, no testing fee). If applying to more than one AIMS school, schedule testing at one school only and request the scores to be shared.
    (NOTE: Applicants for 5th grade may take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) in lieu of Friends School testing. Register for the exam Admission Testing (ISEE): Independent School Entrance Exam or contact ISEE directly at 1-800-446-0320
    Applicants for Grades 2-5 are invited to visit for a school day. Please contact the Admission office at 410-649-3211 to set-up a visiting day in the Lower School.

  • Grades 6-12

    Admission Testing (ISEE)
    Students applying to grades 6-12 must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or provide a copy of results taken within the last year. Step 5: Candidate Notification

Once Step 4 has been completed, the prospective student’s file will be evaluated by the Admission Committee. You will be notified of an admission decision on February 16, 2018 (or later, based on availability at specific grade levels).
