Varsity, JV Badminton defeat RPCS with 4-3 scores

In their season opener on Monday, March 14, the Varsity and JV Badminton teams recorded big home wins over defending conference champion RPCS with 4-3 scores.
As a result of injuries, the opposing team’s #1 and our #2 singles forfeited, but after #1 doubles Isabel Cooke ’16 and Isa Garcia-Moreno ’16 narrowly lost in three games, #2 Sydney Klawans ’16 and Maeve Duke ’16 stormed back after a first game loss to win the next two, and #3 Molly Dunn ’16 and Erin Farrugia ‘17 also gutted out a three-game victory. Though #4 doubles Riley Gerrity ’17 and Carrie Zaremba ’17 lost in three games, #3 singles Mary Ryan Budnitz ’17 clinched the match by defeating her opponent in two games.
JV highlights included a three game comeback victory by #2 singles Keelty Wyatt ’18 as well as wins by #1 doubles Jocey Gann ’18 and Sophia Hardesty-Meteyer ‘18, #3 Hanna Field ’17 and Ruby Pritchett ‘17, and #4 Ella Ciccarone ’19 and Sophie Lizmi ‘19.
