Boys Varsity Basketball on December 30 took home the Bracket III title at the 2016 Governor’s Challenge tournament, defeating Kent High School, 35-33. Ross Jones ‘17 scored 20 points, earning the Most Outstanding Player award and pushing him over the 1,000-point mark by 5. Since 1992 only 12 Friends School players have achieved this milestone. Ross is the 13th. With back-to-back home games in the Quakerdome, on Wednesday, Jan. 4 @ 6 pm vs. St. Paul's and on Friday, Jan. 6 @ 7 pm vs. Curley, the team looks to build on its 8-3 season – and Ross Jones' 1,005+ career points – with the enthusiastic support of its Quaker Nation fan base.
More than 100 teams from Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina and Virginia participated in this year's Governor’s Challenge, which took place December 27-30 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.
