Middle School Girls Basketball is unstoppable

Middle School Girls Basketball (10-1) is having a spectacular season and the momentum continues to build. The team on January 26 defeated Garrison Forest, 44-30. “Their only loss was to Park in early December,” says coach Judy Turnbaugh. The girls will seek to avenge their loss to the Bruins tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31, 4:30 pm, in the west gym. “They would love to have Quaker fans in the stands,” says Turnbaugh. “Coach Julie [Goodenough] and I are so very proud of their hard work and dedication this season.” The nine-player roster includes just one 8th grader, Baylee DeSmit ’21, and one 7th grader, Annalisa Jenkins ’22. The remaining players – Quinn Bryant, Elie Walsh, Genique Gaither, Divine Trewick, Molly Parker, Dylan Barnes, and Oluchi Ihenatu – are 6th graders. At last Thursday’s win against Garrison Forest, Baylee DeSmit ‘21 had the game of her Middle School career with 32 points. Genique Gaither ’23, another top-scorer, added 8 points and, with Dylan Barnes ’23 and Quinn Bryant ‘23, controlled the boards on both the offensive and defensive ends. Come out and show your support for these future Varsity players. See you in the gym at 4:30 pm.
