Girls Varsity Lacrosse in a tough away game on Thursday, March 30 lost in overtime to Mercy High School, 12-13. Although the Magic jumped out and scored the first three goals, the Quakers scored the next three and proceeded to pull ahead to lead at the half, 7-4. Irene Lunt ’17 scored and Alex Miceli ’18 assisted on 3 of the 7 first-half goals. The Quakers played with intensity and poise as they entered halftime. The second half began with a goal from Mercy about 4 minutes in; Carli Freeman ’18 answered this seconds later with a goal followed by 2 more to extend the Quaker lead to 10-5. With approximately 11:30 left in the game, Mercy began a 9:11 scoring drive to tie the game at 12-all and send it into overtime. The Quakes won the center draw in the overtime period but could not capitalize on that possession. Mercy took the ball down and scored the final goal of the game with 1:18 remaining in the first overtime period. The team will travel to Park School on Tuesday, April 4 for a 4:30 pm game.
