Friday Night Lights

Playing for the first time under the lights on Deering Field, Boys Varsity Lacrosse on Friday, April 28 defeated Flint Hill School of Oakton, VA, 8-7. “The energy during Friday night's game was as good as it gets in high school lacrosse,” said coach Bill Ball. “We spoke a lot all week about playing with intensity and the team delivered.” Many players contributed to the victory as did the super-charged Quaker Nation fan base. Leading the offense were Patrick Linehan ’18 (3g, 1a), Dakota Allis ’17 (2, 1), Owen McManus ’18 (2g), Clayton Abrecht ’19 (1g) and Skyler Kessenich ’18 (3a). Other key players were Seamus Cook ‘18, Will Ciccarone ’18 and Sam Sheusi ‘17. The defense was rock solid behind goalies Ross Blumenthal '18 (12 saves, 1 assist) and Dawson Bordick '18 (8 saves) with Jack Schreck ‘17, Owen McManus ‘18, Carter Jones ‘19, Eli Sherbakov ‘20, Jack Barrett ‘18, Andrew Ayers ‘18, Kavon Samuels ‘18, Paul Benzer ’18 and Tommy Enokian ’17 continually frustrating Flint Hill’s scoring attempts. The closely matched game turned in the Quakers’ favor with 4:30 left to play, when Clayton Abrecht scored the game winning goal on a feed from Dakota Allis. The team travels to Park School on Friday, May 5 for a 4 pm game. Come out and show your support!
