Friends Upper School will present the Mark Hollmann-Greg Kotis satirical comedy “Urinetown: The Musical
” on Friday and Saturday, May 19-20, at 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, May 21, at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased online with assigned seating by clicking here
A 20-year drought leads to harsh laws against private bathrooms. Now all must pay to use facilities controlled by the "Urine Good Company Corporation" or risk being dragged off to a penal colony called Urinetown, never to be heard from again. “Urinetown: the Musical” won four Tony Awards in 2002, including Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.
The show is directed by Robert W. Oppel with music direction by Michael McVey and choreography by Julie Foley. The cast includes Pace Schwarz ’19 as Officer Lockstock, Ben Miller ’17 as Officer Barrel, Tristin Goodenough ’17 as the harshly authoritarian Penelope Pennywise, Jack Barrett ’18 as her dashing young everyman Bobby Strong, Sam Haas ’19 as Bobby’s father Old Man Strong, Raquel Hyatt ’18 as Little Sally the street urchin, Alex Wienner ’18 as the corrupt Senator Fipp, Chase Andre ’18 as Urine Good Company CEO Caldwell B. Cladwell, Amanda Madsen ’17 as his beautiful daughter Hope, Penn Hoen ’19 as Cladwell’s assistant Mr. McQueen … and that’s just Act One!
