Friends School of Baltimore proudly announces the launch of the Friends School Summer Institute, an intensive two-week program designed to provide Baltimore-area students entering grades 8 through freshman year in college with challenging non-traditional learning experiences on such topics as Jazz Theory and Improvisation or writing (The 48-Hour Novel). The program is ideal for students who’ve developed a passion for a particular area of study and who wish to focus their creative energies in ways they might not otherwise get a chance to pursue during the school year. Led by Friends’ experienced faculty, the Summer Institute engages students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills while preparing them for more advanced studies.
The Institute runs weekdays, July 5 through July 20, from 10 am to 2 pm (Jazz Improv. meets from 12 to 4 pm), although individual instructors may be flexible. The cost is $1,000. Click here for course descriptions and to register. For more information, contact Anna Melville ’01.
