A whole team effort

On the heels of Monday’s 3-2 OT win over Mercy, the Varsity Field Hockey team on Wednesday, September 13 defeated Oldfields with a 6- 0 shutout.

The first half was tight until the 11th and 13th minute-marks, when Rachel Freeman ‘20 and Maggie Linehan ‘19 each tallied a goal to push the team to the next level. The team carried this momentum into the second half with successive goals by Luella Rubin-Wylie ‘20, Sofia Geocadin ‘19, Olivia Nengel ‘20, and Shirin Baharlou ‘19. Goalies Tyler Rifkin ‘18 and Grace Bowen ‘20 hustled to preserve the shutout.

“This win was a whole team effort, with everyone from our new players to veterans stepping up,” said coach Angie Brewer. The Quakes are now in 1st place and will look to secure their position when they host Key School on Monday, September 18, for a 4 pm game.
