Sparked by aggressive serving and a home court advantage Varsity Volleyball on Tuesday, October 10 took an early lead and maintained momentum over three sets to shut-out Concordia Prep, 3-0. Stellar outside hitters Lulu Whitmore ‘19 and Hannah Goodenough ‘19, who scored a combined 7 kills in the first set, led the Quakers to a first set win, 25-19. Defensive specialists Sophia Meteyer ‘18 and Nicole Vershov ’19 thwarted Concordia’s attacks in the second set, causing the Saints to make numerous errors and give the Quakers the winning edge, 25-17. Down 21-23 in the third set, Hannah Goodenough ‘19 rattled off 4 consecutive serves after which, in a dramatic final effort, Katie Capizzi ’18 hurdled Carli Freeman ‘18 to set the ball to Lulu Whitmore ’19, who tooled Concordia's block for the 25-23 win.
