Friends Football defeats Mt. Carmel under the lights
On October 27th, in the 1st ever Friday Night Lights game, the Quakers defeated the Mt. Carmel Cougars 28-20.
Running back Kavon Samuels ’18 ran for 255 yards, including 3 touchdowns and Quarterback, David Gantt ‘18 scored a one-yard touchdown. Samuels scored from 1 yard out, 2 yards out, and a twisting and turning 49-yard run in the 3rd Quarter of the game giving the Quakes a commanding 20 – 0 lead. The Cougars added 3 second half scores but never took the lead.
With a little over a minute left in the game, the Quakes sealed the deal with a 4-yard 4th down run by Tres Conaway ’18 allowing the Quakes to come away with their 1st conference win of the year. It was the 1st ever night game where Friends served as the home team; the game was played at Poly. The Quakes are now riding a 2 game winning streak, the first in 8 years. This win was their 3rd of the season avenging an October 7th loss (27-16) to Mt. Carmel. The team’s record is now 3 – 4.
The Quakes will attempt to even up their overall record when they host Annapolis Area Christian School Friday, November 3, 4 pm.
